Brazil Mission Trip - July 24-August 2 (this is a change from previous trips as we will leave on Thursday and return on Saturday morning)
Our mission team will be journeying to the oceanside city of Rio de Janeiro to work with Southern Baptist missionaries Ray and Sharon Fairchild. We will be working with the urban poor in the slum areas called “favelas” within the city of Rio. We will work with a local church and hold a medical missions clinic, complete with medical exams, dental extractions and cleanings, eye exams and a pharmacy for filling the prescriptions. The most important part of our group will be our Evangelism team, which will be working in all the areas of our clinic.We want every person treated to know that they are loved, cared for and that they can have eternal life.
Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Brazil is the largest country in South America. It is a country slightly smaller than the US. The national language is Portuguese and the predominant religion is Roman Catholic. Spiritism is also a very popular belief. You will find Rio to be a beautiful city of contrasts. It is a city on the east coast of Brazil with population of more than 8 million people. As you move from the airport to the hotel you will note vast differences in the economic landscape as well as the physical landscape. It is an enormous mission field, a field that is ready for harvest.
Workers Needed
Doctor, nurses and experienced clinicians in the medical, dental, pharmacy and optometry fields as well as non medical personnel to assist in various areas and do evangelism.
Cost, Deadlines and Application Process
The approximate cost in 2008 will be $2400. That amount covers everything except your spending money for souvenirs. You must be at least 18 by April 15 to apply for this trip.
IF YOUR PASSPORT EXPIRES BEFORE FEBRUARY 29. 2009 YOU WILL NEED A NEW PASSPORT. DUE TO THE DELAY IN PROCESSING PASSPORTS, YOU NEED TO APPLY IMMEDIATELY FOR A NEW PASSPORT!
